When making terrain it's very easy to get a bit carried away and end up with something much bigger than anticipated. There is definitely a tendancy for builders regret to creap in. Why did i build this? How am I going to store it?
The answer is to know or atleast have a vague idea of how you are going to store a build before starting. This can be a lot easier said than done especially if you have an organic or impulsive method to your builds. Yes, I'm very much in that category myself. I tend to start one thing get a random idea and end up building something else.
So as I mentioned in my last post ...
"If it don't fit it shall be chucked" and being emotionally attached to the piles of possibilities I needed to avoid this at all costs.
So I have done some sorting out. Its nice to not have to search through a sea of storage to find that particular bit my brain knows I have somewhere.
I've made terrain for others many times and the first thing I ask is how much storage do you have? Lol ... This sounds easy and logical to apply to myself. But knowing something and then having to apply it to myself for some weird reason is much more challenging than it feels it should be. Maybe it's the neuro spicy brain throwing a spanner in the works.
So where am I heading with this post?
Well I really want to make some cool terrain but I need storage first to avoid builders regret. Though the thought of sorting out storage for myself just isn't appealing. But if I can fool my brain into the whole thing being for someone else (aka - you reading this), then it's not for me. Hopefully avoiding the usual mental block I have been stumbling into.
Just need to stop over thinking it and do.
I have managed to merge some boxes of materials freeing up the perfect box for storing bushes and small trees. I have the materials to do them. So I need to turn the box into suitable storage. Maybe 2 removable trays with recesses to place the plants in?
If you're reading this and there hasn't been a part 2, where I have done something more than discuss the issue. Please feel free to give me a gentle reminder via the comments below to get on with it.
